In case you missed the news, Nevada City now has a No Smoking Ban that applies to all city-owned property. This ban applies to all city owned building as wells as parks and trails. The ordinance also bans medical marijuana users from lighting up on city owned property. Fines range from $100 to $500.

The owners of Las Katarinas Mexican Restaurant were recently honored with the award given by Nevada City Chamber of Commerce and the Nevada City Rotary Club during the Chamber’s Installation Dinner. Friends of Hospice are sending out invitations for you to purchase paving bricks that line the landscaped entry to the Hospice facility off Rough and Ready Highway in Grass Valley. of Grass Valley. The event is sponsored by the Grass Valley Downtown Association and the Northern Sierra Winery Association. This year’s event is the largest ever. Over 65 area restaurants and wineries have registered to be involved in the rain or shine event that will take place on Mill, Bank and West Main Streets. Music by local

hile the Amgen Tour of California begins in Nevada City, Grass Valley will also be part of the 104 mile, first leg of the race. The course will also take racers through Meadow Vista and Auburn, including a trip over the tallest bridge in California, the American River Bridge. Riders will continue on to Cool, skirt Folsom Lake and proceed through El Dorado Hills before entering Sacramento on their way to the finish line at the north steps of the state capital building. The Amgen Tour of California is the largest bicycle race in North America and features many of the worlds top riders including Lance Armstrong who is expected to compete again this year. Last year Armstrong won the Nevada City Bicycle Classic just before competing in the Tour De France. Defending Amgen Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer is expected to compete. Armstrong finished seventh in the 2009 race. The race has eight stages in all finishing on May 23rd in Southern California in the Thousand Oaks area. The Amgen Tour of California is the largest bicycle race in North America and features many of the worlds top riders including Lance Armstrong who is expected to compete again this year. Last year Armstrong won the Nevada City Bicycle Classic just before competing in the Tour De France. Defending Amgen Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer is expected to compete. Armstrong finished seventh in the 2009 race. The race has eight stages in all finishing on May 23rd in Southern California in the Thousand Oaks area.
